Penicuik Silver Band

SURPRISE 80th BIRTHDAY CONCERT

for JACK FORREST

Saturday 14 June 2008

7.30pm in North Kirk, Penicuik

Penicuik Silver Band will be presenting a concert for Jack on the occasion of his 80th birthday (actually a couple of weeks before it). We are looking to get as many former players back as possible, playing if they are still players or in the audience if not.

If you are interested in either playing or being in the audience (whether a former player or not) then please contact Ian Forrest.

Entry will be by ticket (obtainable from Ian) and while there will not be a charge for tickets, a donation to charity (of Jack’s choice) will be requested on the night.

If you wish to play, it would be good to see you at a rehearsal or two (Mondays and Fridays in Penicuik High School at 7.30) and at the dress rehearsal in the North Church on Friday 13 June – ready to start at 7.30).

The Open Door volunteers who run these sorts of events at the Church have agreed to record the concert on CD – for Jack obviously, but copies may be available.

Terry Johns, the band’s conductor, has agreed to make a special arrangement of St Clement (Jack’s favourite hymn tune) and this will get its world premiere at the concert!

Finally, there is every chance of a visit to the pub following the concert (probably the Fisher’s Tryst in Milton Bridge).
